ROTARY ENSURES THAT SHIP SAILS |
|
Thornbury Rotarians have responded to a recent cry for help in the
"Thornbury Gazette" with a £150 emergency grant/.
|
 |
After students in Modern Foreign Culture at the Castle School
visited Kenya last year, they
have raised funds to purchase basic teaching and learning items desperately
needed by the pupils and staff of the GilGil Township School. |
|
At the last minute, they found that the cost of sending the equipment was far more than
their funs could meet. On reading of their problem Thornbury Rotary Club immediately agreed
to pay the transport costs. |
President Richard Craddy said in presenting a cheque to Mrs. Alice Bentley for £150 “This is the sort of worthy cause that Rotary raises funds for . We were very pleased to be able to respond so quickly.
It is a happy coincidence that Thornbury Rotary also sponsored last year’s World Challenge teams”. |
